Comparing Nitrous, Turbo, Supercharger

Things you should know before purchasing.

First: Nitrous is the cheapest way to get substantial power, followed by Turbo and lastly Supercharger. Compare Nitrous kit from $390, Turbo kit $2699 and Supercharger kit $4500.

Second: Nitrous kits simply bolt right on with the minimum of effort and fits any vehicle, any engine carb or fuel injected. Turbo and Superchargers usually require the engine to come out so a cometic shim spacer gasket can be added to the head to lower compression (not all bikes).

Third: Nitrous is pure additional power used at high rpm's. Turbo is the same, pure power at high rpm's. However, superchargers require the engine to power the supercharger, so even if the supercharger produces a lot of power, about a quarter to one third is used in just powering the supercharger.

Summary: Nitrous can be run very simply just by pressing the button to spray nitrous into your airbox. The price is right and the only real downside is having to fill the bottles, but this really only takes a few minutes.
Turbos are by far the best option and uses the exhaust to power the turbine which rotates the induction part of the turbine and pulls ambient air into the throttle bodies. A turbocharger has two turbines that are directly linked to one another. Its a very clean system that does not use any engine power to force air into the engine. So it is very efficient and efficiency is important. Many drag racers use a combination of turbo and nitrous.
Superchargers provide power through the whole power band but leeches power from the engine, so less power overall. In drag you don't need low end power since your never low in the rpm band. Supercharger builders mostly talk about top end performance because in drag racing times, their quarter mile times are not that great. Look at TTS Performance Superchargers running Suzuki Hayabusa's with 300-400hp (approximate), their best quarter mile times are 9.4 to 9.6 (its in their videos). Our stock tuned busas run those times, while nitrous runs high 8's and turbos from high 5's to low 8's.

PS: For riders who are uncomfortable having their motor pulled and paying more for a supercharger, we recommend: Purchase a used Suzuki Bandit and a turbo kit... both combined will likely be less than a supercharger kit. Additionally the Bandit is bolt on and the engine does NOT have to come out. Big saving in installation as well.

How much is a human life worth? An innovative cancer therapy promises to save lives. But it is extremely expensive. Will the insurance companies pay for it? What is the manufacturer's return on investment? And do lobbyists drive up prices?

In 2018, the Kymriah gene therapy was approved in Europe. Immune cells are taken from the patient, genetically reprogrammed into cancer killer cells and returned to the patient as an infusion. The results of the Kymriah study only cover a period of 18 months. In 40 percent of patients, lymph gland cancer does not return during this time. It is not clear whether Kymriah has a long-term effect. The Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis offers the new therapy - it costs 370,000 Swiss francs per patient. Health insurance companies are not usually prepared to pay that much and are complaining about a lack of transparency.

But the killer cells were not invented in the Novartis laboratories, but at a US university. When Professor Carl June started his research almost 30 years ago, no pharmaceutical company was interested. It was only thanks to funding from tax money and donations that he was able to develop Kymriah at all. After a story went around the world about a girl with leukemia whose cancer disappeared thanks to Kymriah, the pharmaceutical company contacted Novartis and secured exclusive marketing rights. To launch Kymriah on the market, Novartis funded the necessary clinical trials. It's not an isolated incident: Over 60% of newly approved medicines in the US are developed by small biotech companies or universities. Pharmaceutical companies today frequently act as capital providers, cooperating with universities or buying up biotech companies.

A paradigm shift has taken place in the pharmaceutical industry: Whereas high drug prices used to be justified by research costs, the industry is now using the value of gained lifetime to argue its case.
